What Hamas Supporters Want

Another view of the Summer Rocket War of 2014

Over the past 5 days, there had been a relative quiet, albeit a tense one, on the border between Gaza and Israel. Negotiators were talking in Cairo. The guns fell silent.

After the fifth day, the sides agreed to talk for a further 24 hours. The optimists were hopeful.

On day six, the poor, struggling people of Gaza, led “democratically” by the Hamas and other insane terrorist groups, once again brilliantly decided that the best way to achieve peace, was through attacking Israel with more rockets, unprompted by anything except their own violent genocidal lunacy that they call logic.

Of course, Hamas realizes it can not defeat Israel militarily at the moment. So they do the next best thing they can think of … apparently because they can’t think of much good. They decide that to have more of their people killed by Israel in retaliatory shelling is better than to be seen as weak by their own people.

You gotta hand it to Hamas’ political chief Khaled Mashaal and the leaders of its armed wing in Gaza. They sure know how to write a playbook that the Western media and other useful fools fawn over.

If only it didn’t cost so many lives and so much damage, it might even be funny as a comedy sketch. Something along the lines of “How to prove your loss and convince the ignorami that this means you won.”

Or, why Israel and the Palestinians fight more in the Summer

As it turns out, some extensive research has been done by the Fools’ Research Institute of Enterprise Studies (FRIES) into why Israeli and Palestinian armed forces attack each other more during the Summer months.

Counter-intuitively, it is not because the rainless weather makes it easier for the armed fighters to attack.

As the data points out, it is actually because the people of the area are addicted to sun-bathing, and so they march off into the intolerable heat, because the rumor is that it will improve their tan.

Not Quite The Speed of Light

What Israelis expect, and what they get in reality

Israelis love speed. They love to talk fast, drive fast, and surf the web fast. And they love to do it all while their heartbeat is racing on strong doses of black mud coffee. The problem is that only the first item on that list of the big four speed factors is actually controlled by the speed thrill-seekers, who dwell on the West Coast of the Middle East. They can talk fast, without any outside assistance.

But when it comes to speeding down the road, they have to deal with traffic and other on-road congestion.

When it comes to cruising on the Internetz, Israelis live in a very hi-tech nation … held back by monstrous capacity limits. Apparently bits and bytes cost more on the sandy shores of the Holy Land, than they do in France, South Korea or the United States. And the reason for that bandwidth traffic jam? Other than adult material, you can (and should) blame the telecoms, who simply refuse to fix the problem, which is incredibly fixable, and at a relatively negligible price. But try getting those greedy oligarchs to pay to improve the people’s pathways to faster access to information. To the richest of the rich, the very idea of giving people faster access to knowledge is blasphemy. Why, it would be like letting the peasants have the keys to the kingdom. Perish the equitable thought!

And of course, when it comes to coffee … sure, Israelis can choose and decide which brand of packaged caffeine to consume, and how much of it to slurp down on any given day. The trouble is, few of them bother to read the packaging, and so they actually depend on the coffee maker to decide for them. How about a couple of sugar cubes for your liquid speed fix?

As it is, this cartoon’s draft was rejected by a very mainstream hi-tech startup and was later syndicated on the cartoonist’s illustrated column in the Times of Israel website.

Santa’s Sleigh is on the Way … with Israeli hi-tech

How Santa Claus Delivers with help from the Jewish state

Santa’s reindeer are tired. So tired. After all, the physical demands of zipping around the world, year after year, Christmas after Christmas, with populations growing all the tim … no wonder they need a break.

This year, as it has secretly done in the past, the State of Israel lent a hand to Santa’s workshop, by providing a brand new, updated unmanned air vehicle (UAV), aka: a drone.

This Jewish-Christian alliance was made possible in the name of peaceful co-existence and interfaith fraternity. It was done in order to help pull Santa’s sleigh to meet the just-in-time delivery demands of all the nice Christian children. Or at least, for those good goyishe kids who still believe in the pagan fairy tale of the jolly fat man, his toy-making elves and his troop of reindeer, led by their fearless, red-nosed leader, Rudolph.

Please note that this technological present from Israel to Santa is unrelated to the cultural debates surrounding the annual Christian tradition of celebrating what they believe to be the birth of Jesus Christ, which has been occupied by Coca-Cola and Xmas marketeers for the last century or so.

Oh yeah, you can also see this image on the artist’s blog in the Times of Israel website.

From all of us at Oy Vey, Merry Christmas to all Christians, and to all, a good night.
